Swedish massage is a restorative whole body therapeutic massage treatment that works with the soft tissues and muscles to provide a calm and balance and to help restore health. It uses a variety of techniques originally introduced by a 19th Century Swedish therapist, Per Henrik Ling, such as tapping, kneading and wringing to manipulate the muscles.
Benefits
- eases muscular tension
- improves blood circulation
- reduces emotional and physical stress
- improves quality of sleep
- aids with soft tissue and sports injuries
- useful for chronic pain, digestive issues and mental wellbeing
Relaxation is one of the more popular benefits as it promotes a feeling of calm and comfort and ultimately enhances our general wellbeing on both a physical and psychological level.
What to Expect
Once on the massage table, we begin with some light compression and then use a variety of strokes to warm and prepare the muscles. We then address any particular areas of tension with deeper strokes and various techniques. The massage will finish with some deep breathing.
