Adding a regular massage to your routine will have significant impact on your health and wellbeing. Some of the more popular benefits of massage therapy include lowering stress, pain management, improved range of motion, increased immune function and a better quality of sleep. Each treatment has their own additional benefits. Check out each treatment to find out more.
There are a few conditions that could prevent or delay you from having a massage. You should always reschedule or cancel your massage if you have a fever, any cold or flu symptoms or have a positive covid test. If you have any skin conditions that are considered contagious or infectious you must not book a treatment. If you are in your first trimester of pregnancy, it is not recommended to have a massage. Any other serious medical conditions will be discussed with me during a thorough consultation, and I may recommend you speak to your primary care provider for approval first.
Before your first visit, you would be required to complete a health consultation form. The form will ask in-depth questions in regards to your medical history and to establish what areas need addressing the most and what outcome you would like from the massage. It is always important to disclose any specific allergies or medical conditions to ensure the massage can be adapted for your safety.
The most important thing I ensure is that you are comfortable during your massage. You may undress to your level of comfort; this usually means to the underwear. For women, it is more convenient to remove the brassier however it is not a requirement. It is a requirement to leave lower underwear on during all treatments. You will always be given privacy when dressing and undressing for your massage and during your massage the correct towel draping will be maintained at all times.
In general, massages should not hurt. I will always ask if the pressure is ok. If at any time you feel the pressure is too intense or you feel any discomfort during your massage, it is important to let me know so the technique can be adapted. Some treatments may result in a little muscle soreness during the days following a massage but in general you should not be any significant pain during or after your massage.
Once you are on the table, the time is yours. In general, I will remain quiet during the treatment however some people enjoy having a conversation during the treatment, which is absolutely fine. However, the choice is yours to ensure you enjoy the experience. But do keep in mind that the treatment is helping you to release any stress and tensions you may be experiencing.
It is common to fall asleep during the treatment. In fact, this lets me know that you are completely relaxed. If you snore or drool, don’t worry, I’ve seen it all before! I will not judge and simply continue the treatment.
Trust me, I have seen and felt it all! Please never feel embarrassed or uncomfortable. My aim as a therapist is to focus on relaxing you and addressing your physical and mental needs, not to judge your appearance. If you have any concerns, you are welcome to discuss them with me prior to your treatment.
Every client is different and has individual needs. Generally, most people will get a massage once every month, to maintain positive physical and mental wellbeing. I will discuss your needs and determine a plan on how often you need to have a treatment.
A consultation is mandatory when booking your first treatment. This a free consultation to decide which treatment is right for you and to identify your needs. The consultation for your first treatment is usually the longest and most in depth-lasting up to 30 minutes. After which, follow up consultations would only last approximately 10 minutes. Once the treatment is booked, full payment must be made before your treatment date to secure your booking. Payments can be made by bank transfer, debit/credit card or PayPal.
I will always send reminder emails/texts the day before your treatment. If you need to cancel your appointment at any time it must be done at least 24 hours before your treatment. Failure to do so will result in you paying in full for your treatment.
It is important to arrive on time for your appointment as there may be clients booked in after you. If you are running late, it may result in less treatment time and you will be charged in full for your treatment.
If you fail to attend your appointment without notice, you will be charged the full amount of your treatment.
Allowances will be made for positive COVID-19 results.
Sometimes you may be unsure when you want to book a treatment for yourself, or you’d like to book one for a loved one. Gift vouchers make the perfect gift and can be bought on the website, or you can contact me directly.
All gift vouchers must be redeemed within 12 months of purchase and are non-refundable.
